I think the most astonishing thing that happened on my recent seminar trips was when I asked the 100 plus golf professionals at the PGA event, in Western New York what their club’s marketing budget was, only to fined the highest was $16,000 while over half had none at all.
Twenty years ago in my 1148 sq foot karate school, my yearly marketing budget was $24,000!!!
It is amazing to me just how many clubs and businesses in general spend so little on marketing, marketing, at least good marketing makes the phone ring.

Another victim of the economy or another sign that the days of print advertising in general are numbered?
“While the award-winning editorial product has enjoyed a loyal and passionate following, the current advertising climate has severely impacted the magazine’s bottom line to where the short-term and mid-term prospects for the magazine are not viable,” president and CEO Ed Kelly said in a statement.
Travel + Leisure Golf carried a bi-monthly circulation of 625,000. Ad pages were down 13.9 percent in 2008, according to Publishers Information Bureau figures.

 Skpoint have apartments to sell!
I was in downtown Tampa over the weekend and stayed at my friend’s new apartment, great view of the city and the water. We get up late, after the Billy Joel and Elton John concert, (FAB) and look out the window! As luck would have it, it was the Gasparila Art Festival, right outside our front door. Five city blocks of booths and art, tons of people, great food and a perfect 80, degree Florida day!
Now if I were trying to sell apartments in this economy, or lease them as the even larger sister property next door is trying to do…
And I had several thousand people right outside my front door, at an art festival and I mean RIGHT OUTSIDE MY FRONT DOOR..
I’d have set up a booth..
Given out information…
Invited people to participate in a drawing….
Took them on tours …
What opportunities are you missing right on your door step?
If customers are not coming through your door go where they are going.
Remember FISH where the fish are…if you want to eat!
Thousands of People Outside The Front Door and No Booth To Take Advantage of Them!

Media Take Notice The Apple Store Rocks!
I went to the Tampa Mall this weekend to get something for my Mac. There where close to hundred people in the Apple store. It took me ten minutes to get served and another ten to check out!
Apple can’t keep their products on the selves and yet their stock is down $120 in seven months! Does this make any sense? No, none, it’s just a victim of the media driven obsession to wreck the economy!
Yes, times are tough, but not everyone is out of work, not everyone is losing their job and some people, people like ME are even hiring!
The Media NEVER seems to focus on any positive; all they need to do is go to an Apple store!
Or a factory making bullets, or tanks, or uniforms or slot machines, or booze or any number of companies who through no fault of anyone’s survive and thrive in a recession.
Let’s hear more about them for a change!
GO APPLE!!
